Getting your e-cigarette ready for use

Getting your e-cigarette ready for use

You purchased an e-cigarette and now? After reading this article you know exactly which part does what, and how you can use your e-cigarette safe and correct.

You have received your new battery or complete e-cigarette, so what’s next? In this article we explain step by step how you prepare the e-cigarette for use, and how to use it. If there is a manual with your e-cigarette make sure to read it at least once, everything is clearly described there. You can also visit our manuals page for an explanation per specific model.

Battery

Most batteries are not supplied fully charged. The best thing to do before you use the battery is to fully charge it. In addition, it is best to fully charge your battery before it is completely empty. This will benefit the cells in the battery on the long term. An USB-charging cable is supplied with all our e-cigarettes. You can use this to charge your e-cigarette via, for example, a laptop or computer, but you can also use a power adapter for the wall outlet. Note that the adapter for the wall outlet does not exceed the maximum output that the battery can handle. Most eGo batteries can be charged with max 1000mAh (1A). Some models with a USB- C connection can even go up to 2000mAh (2A). If you still charge your battery with an Ampère that is higher than the battery can handle, it will wear out faster and may be damaged! You can find the Ampère output on any wall outlet adapter available in Europe. If you use an e-cigarette where you have to attach the battery itself to the charger (e.g. eGo systems) then do not overtighten the battery!

Clearomizer

The clearomizer is the tank of your e-cigarette, which is filled with e-liquid of your choice and contains the coil unit. Virtually all the threaded parts of clearomizers contain silicone rings that ensure your clearomizer does not leak. When taking apart or reassembling your clearomizer, ensure that these rings do not accidentally get lost. Do not overtighten the parts of your clearomizer, this will prevent leaking or problems opening it. Rule of thumb when assembling your entire e-cigarette: tightening it with two fingers is tight enough!

After your clearomizer is assembled, and you attached it to your e-cigarette, it is time to fill the clearomizer. All our clearomizers use top filling. Make sure you put the e-liquid into the correct hole for filling, and do not fill further than the maximum indication. If there is no indication mark on your clearomizer, fill it up to 80% of the maximum capacity.

When you fill the clearomizer for the first time, or if you have placed a new coil, it is necessary to leave the clearomizer for 5 to 10 minutes before using it. This gives the wick material in the coil the chance to absorb the liquid, if you do not do this and immediately start vaping, your coil will burn. This will result in a burnt taste and makes it necessary to replace your coil.

Let’s vape!

After leaving the coil enough time to absorb sufficient liquid you can start vaping. First you have to switch on the battery, you can do this by quickly pressing the fire button 5 to 6 times within 3 seconds. You will see a light blink a few times, or the display turns on. Now the battery is on you can take a puff. While inhaling, hold down the fire button and release the fire button after the puff.

An e-cigarette smokes differently than a traditional cigarette. It is important not to pull to hard while taking a puff, the coil needs time to convert the liquid into vapour. By doing so you prevent the liquid from rising up through the mouthpiece without evaporation. Should your vapour have a sharp, burned taste this can be caused by a couple of things:

  • Your clearomizer must be topped off with e-liquid.
  • You inhale for to long, which causes the wick(coil) in your clearomizer to burn.
